The LIBRE Institute to Host Family Resources and School Fair in Commerce City June 25th

(DENVER, CO) – The LIBRE Institute, a non-profit and non-partisan organization committed to providing tools and information to empower the Latino community, announced plans to host a family resources and school fair in Commerce City on June 25^th at Adams City High School between 12-4 pm.

The school fair will include fun for the entire family, including scavenger hunts, interactive booth, music, food and more.

The tour is intended to help all families, including Hispanic families in Commerce City, learn about educational opportunities so that they can find personal fulfilment and become lifelong learners.

BACKGROUND

• Colorado has the 8th largest Latino population among states in the US.

• The youthful average age of Colorado Latinos (26) also means that the percentage of the Latino K-12 population will continue to increase over the next several decades.

• For every 100 Latino ninth graders in Colorado, only 67 will graduate from high school, 28 will enroll in college and only 10 will graduate.

• Colorado is last among the 50 states when comparing Latinos (ages 25-64) to whites who hold an associate’s or bachelor’s degree.
