(Washington, D.C.) – With the conclusion of Hispanic Heritage Month, the staff and volunteers of The LIBRE Institute are proud to have sponsored a number of events around the country that highlight the contributions of Hispanics to our great nation, and which help to build a stronger and more prosperous Hispanic community. These events took place in a range of states, including Wisconsin, North Carolina, Colorado, Florida, and others. The Hispanic contribution to the nation is an undeniable thread interwoven into the American fabric. Educational and community service events held across the country were intended to empower the Hispanic community and encourage them to keep aspiring towards their own American Dream. Community building events will continue to be sponsored by The LIBRE institute in the months and years ahead, based on the needs of local communities where our activists operate around the country.
Co-sponsorship of the Hispanic Heritage Awards
The LIBRE Institute cosponsored the annual Hispanic Heritage Awards, held in Washington, D.C. on September 14. Daniel Garza, President of The LIBRE Institute, spoke at the event, introducing a video commemorating President Ronald Reagan’s historic signing of legislation to establish Hispanic Heritage Month.
Co-sponsorship of Hispanic Heritage Month Reception Hosted by the Vice President
The Vice President of the United States hosted a reception to commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month, at the U.S. Naval Observatory. The LIBRE Institute was a cosponsor of the event, highlighting the significance of the Latino community in the United States, and utilizing the opportunity to discuss issues of importance to the Hispanic community.
Hispanic Heritage Month Celebrations in Colorado, Virginia, and Wisconsin
These celebrations of Hispanic Heritage highlight the role that our community has played in making America the extraordinary success that it is. These events occurred in Denver, Manassas, and Milwaukee, respectively.
English as a Second Language launch in North Carolina
Because the ability to speak and understand English is critical to success and prosperity in America, The LIBRE Institute has offered English language tutoring in a number of areas around the country. During Hispanic Heritage Month, The LIBRE Institute launched a new series of classes in English language in North Carolina.
School Choice Road Trip in Florida
The Hispanic community understands clearly that a quality education is key to achieving the American Dream, and educational opportunity can be a powerful tool to help families access a quality education. In Orlando and Miami, the team of The LIBRE institute held events to highlight the options available to Florida families, and to ensure Hispanic families have access to the tools and information they need to make informed choices.
