Visualizar la parte de nuestros ingresos que se destina a impuestos, por ejemplo, es relativamente sencillo. Primero el dinero estaba ah\u00ed, y luego se fue a otro sitio. Pero \u00bfqu\u00e9 pasa con el dinero que nunca existi\u00f3 en primer lugar? Como resultado de la carga de la sobrerregulaci\u00f3n, cientos de miles de millones de d\u00f3lares en bienes y servicios nunca se crean en este pa\u00eds cada a\u00f1o. Las empresas son menos capaces de contratar trabajadores como resultado, y los consumidores finalmente pagan estos costes regulatorios en forma de precios m\u00e1s altos para bienes y servicios \u2013 desde la factura de la luz del hogar, hasta la comida, la ropa y la atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica.     <\/p>\n<p>En un nuevo gr\u00e1fico de <strong>The LIBRE Institute<\/strong>, ilustramos el <a href=\"https:\/\/cei.org\/10KC\/Chapter-1\">tama\u00f1o de los costes de cumplimiento normativo<\/a> para las empresas estadounidenses <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bea.gov\/iTable\/iTable.cfm?ReqID=51&amp;step=1#reqid=51&amp;step=51&amp;isuri=1&amp;5114=a&amp;5102=5\">en comparaci\u00f3n con las principales industrias de EE. UU.<\/a> como porcentaje del PIB total. Sorprendentemente, el coste de la sobrerregulaci\u00f3n consume m\u00e1s de una d\u00e9cima parte de la econom\u00eda cada a\u00f1o, y las regulaciones contin\u00faan acumul\u00e1ndose. Para los emprendedores hispanos que luchan por despegar, todo ese coste a\u00f1adido pasa factura.  <\/p>\n<p>Utilizando datos de la Oficina de An\u00e1lisis Econ\u00f3mico, comparamos el tama\u00f1o de las industrias de la construcci\u00f3n, la atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica y las finanzas y seguros con el tama\u00f1o de los costes totales de cumplimiento normativo de EE. UU. como porcentaje del PIB. En 2015, la carga total de los costes de cumplimiento normativo en EE. UU. super\u00f3 el 10 por ciento del PIB. De hecho, el coste total de la burocracia en Estados Unidos super\u00f3 los 1,8 billones de d\u00f3lares en 2015, una cifra mayor que el PIB completo de Rusia. Si la burocracia en Estados Unidos fuera un pa\u00eds, ser\u00eda m\u00e1s grande que todas las econom\u00edas, excepto las 8 m\u00e1s grandes del mundo.   <a href=\"http:\/\/thelibreinstitute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/LIBRE_Web_MiscGraphics_RedTape_v3-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2985\" src=\"http:\/\/thelibreinstitute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/LIBRE_Web_MiscGraphics_RedTape_v3-1.png\" alt=\"libre_web_miscgraphics_redtape_v3\" width=\"1000\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/thelibreinstitute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/LIBRE_Web_MiscGraphics_RedTape_v3-1.png 1000w, https:\/\/thelibreinstitute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/LIBRE_Web_MiscGraphics_RedTape_v3-1-300x150.png 300w, https:\/\/thelibreinstitute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/LIBRE_Web_MiscGraphics_RedTape_v3-1-768x384.png 768w, https:\/\/thelibreinstitute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/LIBRE_Web_MiscGraphics_RedTape_v3-1-100x50.png 100w, https:\/\/thelibreinstitute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/LIBRE_Web_MiscGraphics_RedTape_v3-1-881x441.png 881w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a>Todos estos costes regulatorios pasan factura a las empresas y, de hecho, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.americanactionforum.org\/research\/regulatory-impact-on-small-business-establishments\/\">benefician sistem\u00e1ticamente a las grandes empresas<\/a> a expensas de sus competidores m\u00e1s peque\u00f1os. Seg\u00fan el American Action Forum, \u201cpor cada aumento del 10 por ciento en los costes regulatorios en una industria, el n\u00famero de peque\u00f1as y medianas empresas en esa industria disminuye entre un 3 y un 6 por ciento. Para empeorar las cosas, la sobrerregulaci\u00f3n no solo agrava la desigualdad, sino que tambi\u00e9n frena seriamente el crecimiento. Seg\u00fan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercatus.org\/publication\/cumulative-cost-regulations\">estimaciones recientes<\/a> del Mercatus Center de la Universidad George Mason, la carga total de las regulaciones sobre el crecimiento econ\u00f3mico constituye un lastre del 0,8 por ciento anual. Puede que no parezca mucho, pero se acumula con el tiempo. De hecho, si las regulaciones se hubieran mantenido en los niveles constantes observados cuando Ronald Reagan fue elegido en 1980, la econom\u00eda estadounidense ser\u00eda <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercatus.org\/publication\/cumulative-cost-regulations\">casi un 25 por ciento m\u00e1s grande<\/a> de lo que es hoy, una diferencia de 13.000 d\u00f3lares per c\u00e1pita.
